We are looking for a PAYROLL SPECIALIST for one of our clients operating in Cameroon and across West Africa

PURPOSE PAYROLL SPECIALIST
The Payroll Specialist is pivotal in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with all relevant regulations, and effective communication with employees regarding payroll-related matters. The ideal candidate will have strong numerical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. PAYROLL SPECIALIST
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processing Payroll:
– Accurately calculate and process client payrolls (Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina Faso, DRC Congo, Niger) including taxes, employee benefits, garnishments, sick leave, and other payroll deductions.
– Ensure all data is entered into the payroll system accurately and on time.
- Customer Service:
– Provide excellent customer service by answering payroll-related questions and resolving any issues promptly.
– Collaborate with the Human Resources team to ensure employee records are up-to-date and accurate. - Compliance and Reporting:
– Ensure compliance with tax laws and payroll regulations.
– Maintain accurate payroll records and generate relevant reports for management. - Continuous Learning:
– Keep up-to-date with changes in payroll laws and regulations and communicate any updates to clients - Payroll Software Knowledge:
– Be adept at navigating, troubleshooting, and utilizing features to streamline payroll processing. Familiarize yourself with platforms like Paychex Flex, QuickBooks, or other industry-specific tools12.
– Ensure precise data entry for employee compensation, benefits, and deductions. PAYROLL SPECIALIST - Tax Laws and Regulations:
– Stay updated on federal, state, and local tax regulations. Understand compliance requirements to avoid penalties and maintain the organization’s reputation. - Labor Laws:
– Comprehend labor laws specific to Cameroon and West Africa. - Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities:
– Interpret complex payroll data, identify trends, and generate reports for management. Analyze payroll reports to spot numerical errors or inconsistencies1.
– Perform audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
– Resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently. PAYROLL SPECIALIST
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
- Previous experience with ADP, Workday, or similar payroll systems preferred.
- Exposure to payroll practices and knowledge in SAGE PAIE & HR and other softwares.
- Computer literacy and mastery of related business and communication tools. (MS OUTLOOK, MICROSOFT Excel and other office packs)
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, including a proven ability to maintain constructive relationships with colleagues and partners, in person and virtually.
