We are looking for a Management Trainee who will support the launch and development of field operations for an international climate-tech and sustainable agriculture project in Cameroon. The role involves hands-on field work, coordination with farmers and researchers, soil and crop-related data collection, logistics support, stakeholder engagement, and the setup of local office and laboratory operations

CLIENT OVERVIEW Management Trainee

Our client is an international climate-tech company working in carbon removal, sustainable agriculture and smallholder farmer support. Through enhanced rock weathering technology, the company contributes to climate change mitigation while improving soil quality, crop productivity and farmer livelihoods.

The company combines scientific research, field operations, data analysis and local partnerships to deliver scalable environmental and agricultural impact. As part of its expansion into Cameroon, the company is seeking a motivated and high-potential Management Trainee to support field activities, operational setup, stakeholder engagement and future team development.

PURPOSE

The Management Trainee will play a hands-on role in supporting the company’s early operations in Cameroon. This is a field-based opportunity suited for a driven, practical and analytical candidate who is comfortable working in rural communities, engaging with farmers and researchers, and supporting the setup of a growing operation.

The selected candidate will initially be involved in field work, logistics, sampling, coordination and administrative support. Over time, the role is expected to grow into broader operational and team management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations Management Trainee

Support field activities, including soil sampling, rock powder testing, yield monitoring, observation of plant growth and coordination with researchers and field partners.

Team Building and Leadership

Assist in building and managing a field team, including supporting hiring, task delegation, coaching, performance follow-up and day-to-day supervision. The team may include field staff, laboratory staff, logistics personnel and office support staff.

Logistics and Operations

Plan, monitor and optimize the transportation and distribution of materials. Support inventory management, cost-effective field logistics and the improvement of operational processes.

Stakeholder Engagement Management Trainee

Engage with researchers, national stakeholders, local community leaders, farmers and international team members to support smooth project implementation.

Office and Laboratory Setup

Support the identification and setup of office and laboratory space, working closely with international teams and the science team.

Forecasting and Planning

As operations grow, support supply-demand forecasting, inventory planning, market trend analysis and resource planning.

Administrative Support

Carry out administrative, coordination and clerical tasks required in a growing field operation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, agriculture, environmental science or a related field. A Master’s degree would be an advantage.
  • Strong academic record; preference will be given to candidates with high GPAs from reputable institutions.
  • Relevant internship, project or work experience. Entry-level candidates may apply, but must be able to clearly demonstrate achievements, initiative and projects handled.
  • Candidates must be fluent in English. Knowledge of a relevant local language would be an advantage.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace, especially Excel or Google Sheets. We may test candidates as part of the recruitment process.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to think through the consequences of decisions and work with integrity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate must be willing to: Management Trainee

  • Be based in a rural town in the Southwest or Littoral Region of Cameroon.
  • Travel frequently, approximately four to five times per week, by public transport or motorbike to rural villages and farms.
  • Participate actively in field work, including hands-on soil, crop and farm-related activities.
  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Travel to India for two weeks of training.
  • Take ownership, learn quickly and grow with the organization.
