We are seeking a highly organized and dynamic Operations and Project Manager for our client in the Transport and logistics sector to oversee daily operations, streamline processes, and lead key projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations management, project execution, and team leadership.

PURPOSE
The Operations and Project Manager will Oversees and coordinates all aspects of a logistics project, ensuring its efficient and successful execution. This includes managing timelines, resources, and budgets, while also collaborating with various teams and stakeholders in order to achieve the desired outcome.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor subcontractor/supplier performance and suggest improvement steps.
- Communicates with carriers by checking flight/shipping schedule details and rates; place bookings (back-to-back shipment)
- Communicate with overseas partners by sending/receiving alerts, order acceptance, obtaining rates, and giving the go-ahead for shipment collection.
- Create internal operations-related reports i.e. performance, file profitability, financial or management reports.
- Supervise the preparation of customs documents, and customs clearance documents or hand them over to the vendor, do customs clearance, and arrange a physical inspection.
- Drives implementation of Operations strategy in the company.
- Sets, communicates, and follows KPIs to ensure constant improvement of Operations.
- Ensures realization of budgetary performance by setting and monitoring clear objectives.
- Implement ground operations cost control initiatives e.g. by controlling storage & demurrage costs.
- Ensure optimization of COS (costs of sale) to increase GP.
- Ensure shipping, insurance, and letter of credit documents, match booking to warehouse on-hand receipts are prepared on time.
- Ensure shipments in transit: Departure/Arrival checks, check for POD are monitored
- Ensure respect for clearance/delivery lead times sold to customers.
- Handle operational irregularities i.e. departure delayed, shipment re-booked, damaged goods, etc.
- Supervise post-shipment activities by closing files, archiving, preparing/executing customer billing, issuing invoice corrections, billing related credit checks.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is typically required, along with relevant experience in project management and logistics.
- Knowledge of logistics principles and practices: Understanding of supply chain management, transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools: Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
- Leadership and team management skills: Ability to motivate and guide teams to achieve project goals.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
- Strong organizational and planning skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
