We are seeking a COUNTRY MANAGER (CM) for our client in the sports betting sector to oversee the company’s operations, growth, and performance in Cameroon.

PURPOSE

The Country Manager will oversee the entire operation in Cameroon. He will drive business strategy, ensure compliance, lead cross-functional teams, and deliver exceptional service both online and on the ground. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Group’s management and coordinate the rollout of new products, optimise operational processes and help position the market leader in Cameroon’s sports betting space.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Develop and execute country-level strategy, ensuring alignment with regional growth goals.
  • Work closely with the Group General Manager and other senior leadership to ensure the achievement of KPIs across all departments.
  • Lead and coordinate the rollout of new products and services, ensuring internal readiness and strong market launch.
  • Analyse performance metrics and prepare detailed reports and action plans for continuous improvement.

Operations & Service Delivery

  • Ensure all operations are optimised and automated for efficiency, develop or refine workflows, SOPs, and customer touchpoints.
  • Oversee the monitoring, control, and support of service delivery across all customer channels, including online and walk-in clients.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks, particularly in areas related to fraud, abuse, or compliance breaches.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of systems and services to drive improvements in performance and user experience.

Customer Insights & Risk Management

  • Manage and analyse the customer base, segment users by activity (e.g., deposits, bets), and lead targeted marketing campaigns.
  • Run customer satisfaction surveys to gain insights and inform strategy.
  • Monitor player behaviour to identify and remove suspected cheaters, and evaluate risks posed by specific users or betting trends.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all games and betting options, as well as common tricks or manipulation strategies used in betting.
  • Explain and interpret betting rules, limits, and gameplay strategies to both customers and internal teams when required.

Problem Solving & Systems Thinking

  • Apply complex problem-solving to high-impact challenges, including technical, regulatory, or behavioral betting issues.
  • Perform ongoing systems analysis and evaluation to assess how changes in environment, platforms, or user behavior may affect operations.

Stakeholder Engagement & Representation

  • Build strong relationships with regulators, payment providers, marketing partners, and external agents.
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance with Cameroonian betting laws and business practices.
  • Represent the company at industry events, regulatory meetings, community activations, and in the media.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • 5+ years in leadership roles within betting, fintech, telecom, or fast-paced consumer industries.
  • Deep knowledge of Cameroon’s regulatory, betting, and tech environment.
  • Excellent strategic planning and team management skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience in customer segmentation, fraud prevention, and system/process optimisation.
  • Strong communication in French and English; local dialects are a bonus.
  • Entrepreneurial and agile, you take initiative, adapt fast, and lead by example
